One of the more popular online-only poker variants has been 888poker's long-running 'Push or Fold' format.

The no-limit hold'em variant invites players to join a six-handed table where the maximum buy-in is only five big blinds (as opposed to the usual 100 BB max.). The result is a fast-paced game which satisfies recreational players' desire for quick, entertaining sessions full of action. The 'Push or Fold' tables have also proven useful to more serious players looking to sharpen their short-stacked strategy.

What is the Push/Fold Game? Push/fold strategy boils down to limiting your choices to either pushing all-in or folding your hand. This allows for maximum fold equity to pick-up the blinds and antes and makes it so you don’t commit some valuable chips pre-flop but then fold to post-flop pressure.

However, while players can't buy in for more than five big blinds, those who win do stick around, which can create an interesting dynamic at the 'Push or Fold' tables.

'Stacks do get deeper,' explains 888 Ambassador Dominik Nitsche who took time while at the 2016 World Series of Poker to discuss 'Push or Fold' strategy with PokerNews'Sarah Herring.

'You have all these different stack sizes around the table,' he continues, 'and it's sort of like a tournament' where there is often a wide range of stack sizes at any given point.
